Alex Mawer is the Director of Marketing for VisitEngland and is responsible for the organisation’s marketing, advertising, public relations, digital, web, CRM, international, marketing partnerships, visitor information and business tourism activity.

Alex joined VisitEngland from VisitBritain in July 2010.  He worked at VisitBritain for six years, initially joining as Country Manager South East Asia, based in Singapore. In 2005 he opened up VisitBritain offices in Malaysia and Thailand and was also responsible for the offline markets of Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Brunei. Alex then spent 18 months based in VisitBritain’s London HQ where he oversaw the international marketing efforts for VisitBritain as the Head of International Marketing. In 2008 he was appointed Regional General Manager North Asia based first in Tokyo and then in Hong Kong.

As a philosophy graduate and tourism marketing masters post-graduate (Exeter University UK) Alex has focused his career on various disciplines of marketing, advertising, branding and communications. His broad ranging advertising and marketing agency experience covers online marketing, branding, above and below the line advertising, customer relationship marketing, public relations and strategic planning. Alex has worked for a range of marketing communications agencies and his client list included international airlines, multi-nationals and UK retailers.

Alex currently lives in London with his wife and young children.
