It was created in 2008 by the Partners for England Forum.
It leads action to improve tourism intelligence and statistics within England.
It is funded by VisitEngland (VE) and the nine Regional Development Agencies (RDAs).
It established and grant funds the Tourism Intelligence Unit (TIU) in the Office of National Statistics (ONS) – fast becoming a centre of expertise on tourism statistics.
ETIP is led by a board representing the RDAs, VisitEngland, ONS, local government, the tourism industry and its trade associations, DCMS and academia. The partnership is chaired by David Quarmby, former chair of the British Tourist Authority and of the English Tourist Board.
