March 2013 saw tourism businesses up and down the country celebrating English Tourism Week 2013.
The VisitEngland team attended a range of tourism industry events throughout the week, including the Tourism Alliance’s Parliamentary Reception held in the House of Commons, attended by MPs from across England, the Kent Tourism conference in Dover, and the English Riviera and South Devon Tourism and Business Exhibition and Conference in Torquay.
MPs embraced English Tourism Week by going ‘back to the floor’ at local attractions, restaurants, hotels and Tourist Information Centres in their constituencies on Friday, highlighting the value of the tourism industry to their local economy. VisitEngland’s James Berresford, helped out behind the desk at Bath’s TIC while visiting the city to celebrate English Tourism Week.
The highlight of the week was the exciting announcement that His Royal Highness, the Prince of Wales, has kindly agreed to become the Patron of English Tourism Week for five years.
