Accommodation Business Confidence Monitor

At key times in the year, VisitEngland interviews a sample of 500 accommodation providers to find out about their performance in the most recent period and their expectations for the coming months. We also include a number of different “hot topic” questions in the survey to collect information about topical issues and any other areas that may affect performance.

All types of accommodation are included in the survey (hotels, guest houses, B&Bs, self-catering, and caravan and campsites), and this allows us to understand performance by sector as well as across the industry as a whole.

Interviewing takes place at the following times of year:

January (Performance over Christmas and New Year)
April (Easter)
Early June (Spring and May Bank Holidays)
Early September (Summer Holiday period)
October (Autumn and Half Term)
Results are published around two weeks after completion of fieldwork.
