VisitEngland conducts a short survey of travel intentions – the “Trip Tracker” - before each of the three main bank holidays of the year – Easter, August and the Christmas/New Year period.

Over the weekend before the bank holiday, a sample of 1200 GB adults aged 16+ are contacted online, and asked whether they intend to take any overnight trips over the coming fortnight, and if so, whether these will be in the UK or abroad, and for what purpose (holiday, business, or visiting friends and relatives). Prior to 2012, respondents were contacted by telephone.
