How To Get Involved

In 2011/12 MeetEngland will be building on the work carried out in 2009/10, targeting the international markets of USA, Germany and The Netherlands as well as International Associations headquartered in Europe and North America. We will also be focusing on other European markets including Spain and Scandinavia.

All activities will target a combination of corporate event planners, 3rd party event planners, incentive houses and associations.

France is the third largest inbound business markets with £186m spent in England by business visitors in 2009. It is also the third largest in terms of visit with 508,000 visits. 18.8% of all French inbound visitor spend in England is spent by business visitors.

Germany Go

Germany is the second largest inbound business market, in terms of spend, with £275m spent in England by business visitors in 2009. It is also the second largest in terms of visits with 511,000 visits. 28.5% of all German inbound visitor spend in England is spent by business visitors.

Netherlands Go

The Netherlands was responsible for business spend of £101m in 2009, from 311,000 visitors, placing it 7th in the list of source markets behind Ireland, India and Spain. 20% of all Dutch inbound visitor spend in England is spent by business visitors. England benefits from exceptionally good connections to The Netherlands, in particular Amsterdam, offering direct links to many regional English airports and ferry connections to many of England's port cities.

USA remains the largest inbound business market in terms of spend with £626m spent in England by business visitors in 2009 form 574,000 visits. 33.5% of total inbound visitors from USA is spent by business visitors.

Despite a fall in business from the US market in 2009 due to the global economic recession, this market is showing significant signs of recovery in 2010.

Spain is one of England's largest source markets for business visitors with spend in 2010 estimated at £120m. With excellent connections from many Spanish airport across England, the Spanish business events market offers considerable opportunities.
