The Boat Project, Nationwide

In August last year, Lone Twin, one of Europe’s leading performance companies asked people in the South East to donate wooden objects to become part of their next project. Thousands of items with submitted – all with a personal tale attached – and now feature in a state-of-the-art seafaring yacht that will be launched on the May Bank Holiday Monday - 7 May 2012. The boat is a part of the London 2012 Festival and during the summer it will visit five ports; Brighton, Portsmouth, Hastings, Margate and Milton Keynes. To celebrate the boat’s arrival and departure there will be a programme of special festival of events. The boat’s name has been chosen by the public and the winning nomination will finally be unveiled as part of the launch day.
